PBS Buffer/Tablets

Phosphate-Buffered Saline (PBS) tablets offer a fast, pre-measured, and convenient way to prepare working solutions for biological and biochemical assays without weighing individual salts.

Key Features & Specifications

  • Standard Yield: Typically, 1 tablet dissolves in 100 mL of deionized or distilled water to yield a 1X working solution. (Some manufacturer formulations produce 1 L per tablet, so check product labels).
  • Composition (1X Working Solution): Generally contains ~137 mM sodium chloride (NaCl), 2.7 mM potassium chloride (KCl), and 10 mM phosphate buffer (Na₂HPO₄ / KH₂PO₄).
  • pH Range: Maintains a stable physiological pH of 7.3 to 7.5 (often pH 7.4) at room temperature without requiring titration.
  • Isotonicity: Isotonic (~300 mOsm) and non-toxic to most mammalian and biological cells, preventing osmotic shock.
  • Common Applications: Used for cell washing and diluting, ELISA, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and general laboratory reagent preparation.
  • Research Use Only: Strictly formulated for laboratory or in vitro research applications (not for clinical, drug, or household use).
