Optical qPCR Plates

Optical qPCR (quantitative polymerase chain reaction) plates are specialized multi-well consumables engineered for real-time fluorescence detection during nucleic acid amplification.

Key Characteristics

  • Function: Conducts thermal energy from the cycler block while serving as a clear optical interface to capture fluorescent signals without scattering or bleed-through.
  • Materials: Typically molded from medical-grade, low-autofluorescence polypropylene (often with rigid polycarbonate frames for automation stability).
  • Well Colors:
    • White plates: Reflect fluorescence back toward the detector, boosting signal-to-noise ratios and sensitivity for low-copy targets.
    • Transparent/Clear plates: Permit direct visual inspection of sample color and liquid volume.
  • Formats: Available in 48-well, 96-well (standard or low-profile), and 384-well layouts.
  • Skirts: Offered as non-skirted, semi-skirted (for pipetting and basic support), or full-skirted (for robotic handling).
  • Purity: Certified free of DNase, RNase, human DNA, and PCR inhibitors.
